Istanbul: Gallery: A day in the Snow

All week long the state meteorology service gave out warnings of severe weather to hit Istanbul, each day I logged on to their service watching like an eagle for any changes. No changes just the warnings stayed there and mentally we prepared ourselves for the picture of winter. Waking up at 4am on Saturday 23rd January 2010 like a nervous kid full of excitement it had been many years since I experienced any real snow fall and recently prior to this I had watched the scenes back in the UK and really missed England. On awakening it was not a snow scene I had pictured what we had was howling winds reported at 85kmh in fact they were quite frightening and reminded me of the storm I sat through in 1987 in the south east of England. When day light broke the scene was a miserable wet dull scene with only sleet in the air and to add to the moment there was a power outage for an hour and being -1c outside it was not a pleasant start to the weekend. But that was about to change and armed with a Canon EOS10D and 28-105USM here is what we got ..

I just left a comment on Istanbul: Gallery: A day in the Snow at An Englishman In Istanbul – http://is.gd/7fsfy
frederike i read your blog ,shooting photograpy whilst its snowing is really difficult I probably took 500 shots in two or three hours in the sultanahmet district and only twenty were good due to snowfalkes distorting the scenes. you get good days and bad days in photography .not sure what you mean “Istanbul: you shouldn’t try recording it, you should just live it.” ??
cok sagol
